Fiber Optic instrumented bolts

The BoltSens relies on a reliable and accurate fiber optic strain sensor embedded in the bolt to monitor. It’s the perfect solution to remotely check the correct tightening of your critical installations without drift over time or need for maintenance. A true Plug & Forget sensor that could be used on any bolts, from M4 to M140.

Thanks to the inherent advantages of fiber optics, the BoltSens can be used in almost any harsh environment, from nuclear power plants to underwater conditions. Unaffected by temperature variations, it can be installed in cryogenic systems as well as in high-temperature devices up to 300 Celsius. Fully dielectric, it can be deployed in ATEX environments requiring intrinsically safe sensors.

CETIM, the French Technical Center for Mechanical Industries, has compared 4 different models of instrumented bolts through a review titled “Evaluation of tensioning solutions” published in June 2023. The product of Opsens Solutions, known as C-Bolt back then, scored the highest in 4 out of 5 categories: Precision, Maturity, Connectivity, and Robustness.
